Newmachar’s Hawkshill course provided a difficult test for the players today.

With very fast greens, some questionable pin positions and a swirling wind proved to be a day for proper ball striking and a surgeon’s touch with the putter - albeit a beautiful sunny autumnal day with warm temperatures

Professional Kris Nicol (Fraserburgh Golf Club)

had all the answers today with an excellent round of 69(-3). Kris won by one shot from local +2 handicap amateur player Adam Giles (Murcar Links Golf Club) with an equally impressive round of 70(-2).
