Portlethen Golf Club
A final farewell from winter today with a strong cold wind with wintry showers at Portlethen for the final round of the championship.
With a familiar name winning the Uniroyal Trophy - Open Champion Paul Lawrie shot a superb 66(-5) and added to his 67(-3) at Fraserburgh Golf Club last week was good enough to win by a convincing 3 shots from Professional Dan Toogood (Myrus Golf Centre)
on 136(-5) - Dan also had a very impressive round of 67(-4) today in the difficult conditions.
Paul played a bogie free round today with five birdies at 1,2,5,6 and finished in style with a birdie at the Par5 18th hole.
The two time Ryder Cup hero was pleased with his round saying that he “Played lovely”and felt he should have been better as he three putted both Par 5’s (4th and 13th) for par and missed a few more good chances but nevertheless it was a very good score in the conditions. Paul also paid tribute to Portlethen Golf Club saying the course was in good condition considering recent rain

Congratulations to all the trophy winners during the Championship - all scores and winners are listed below.
A final heartfelt thanks from the NE Alliance committee and all the players to all the wonderful Golf Clubs who allow us to play every Wednesday - we all really appreciate your support
